Requested by close friend, (and talented Sleepy Hollow director) Courtney Knight, this piece was a joy to complete. This has long been one of my favorite primary songs and I jumped at the chance to arrange it. The intended performers are four soloists but I think this would work just as well with a choir.
The song was surprisingly difficult for me to arrange (possibly because it’s so close to my heart) but in the end I think created something I’m happy with. I also had a little fun creating musical images of rain, wind, birds and butterflies throughout. While arranging, I couldn’t help but imagine the voices of my own children (two daughters and two sons) and how they look at “this beautiful world” and hear “the magical sound of things.”
I’m blessed with so many things (as most of us are) and I am especially grateful for a music talent that I love using and sharing; I’m even more blessed with a wonderful family including four choice children, to whom this arrangement is dedicated.
Excuse me, but I believe I requested this many years ago, and was DENIED!
This is my absolute favorite primary song, and the one I have sung to the boys many times since they were babies – glad you finally got around to doing this one!
Sorry, Sis! You have always been such a strong support to me I can’t believe I didn’t do it when you asked. I promise to repent and do better if you ask me for music in the future! My only excuse is that my kids are now past the toddler stage so I have LOTS more time to write and arrange.
