You are welcome! Thanks for taking time to check the music out and share your comments. Good luck with your choir!
I just played through your arrangement of “Come Follow Me”. It is beautiful. I am going to have our choir sing it for Stake conferance adult session. Thank you for having seperate music for the choral parts- It makes it alot easier for the choir to sing and a lot less papers for them to turn.
Hi Stacie,
Thanks so much for giving the music a try – I hope your ensemble enjoys it! This is a great question – I meant for the G# to persist throughout the measure (I’ve never been able to resist dissonance and chromaticism!). But, as always, I respect the director’s right to alter or otherwise make artistic choices for their group; please feel free to alter or edit as needed.
Hi Steve,
I’m using this arrangement for a small ensemble to sing next month. I love your version and can’t wait to put it all together with the piano and violin! Quick question though: on measures 48, 50, and all others like it where the piano’s treble clef plays an accidental G# in the 8th notes, is it meant to be G# for the entire measure or just the G# at the beginning of each measure and resolving back to G for the others in the measure? I’m assuming it’s a G# the entire measure but wanted to make sure because I wondered if it’d be hard for my SA to hear their G against it for the entire measure or not? Thanks ahead for clearing it up for me.
Hi Dale,
Thanks so much for the compliments and for taking time to share them! I have a few more pieces to add soon, but what’s on the website is the current depth and breadth of my “output.” Stay tuned…
I used Far,Far away on Judea’s Plains and Away in a Manger in our christmas program and loved them both, I would like to use more of your arrangements of the hymns in my monthy choir munbers, how do I get to more selections than what you have on the free website.
@Suzie: @Candice: I have completed an arrangement for Violin or Viola (based on the Primary version) here: http://www.soundsmithmusic.com/2010/11/come-follow-me-for-violin-or-viola-and-piano/
Hi Rachelle,
I did create a version for primary singers that you might be able to use: http://www.soundsmithmusic.com/2010/07/come-follow-me-primary/. Let me know what you think!
@Steve –
Hi Steve,
I wondered if you were able to come up with anything for the primary programs for come follow me. My 5 and 6 year old daughters are going to sing the first verse for our program, the whole primarty will sing the second and the congregation will join in for the third. I would love to see what you put together for everyone else.
Thanks,
Rachelle
Thanks, Candice! Without going to the trouble of rearranging, you can often just drop the violin part by an octave for a quick solution. I am actually working on a violin-piano (no choir) version of this piece this month and I will try to create a usable viola part from that as well. I promised to have it ready before Halloween; perhaps it will work for your son as well. I’ll keep you posted!
Hi! Thanks so much for sharing this! My son plays the viola, and I am wondering what kinds of changes we would need to make to the violin music, so he can play it on the viola. Any pointers for me? Thanks so much!
@Suzie: I can help with that and have it to you before Halloween for sure (maybe even earlier). I’ll get to work..
I need to perform it mid-November, and I’d like at least a week to prepare, so early November or so would probably be best.
@Suzie: Thanks for the request! I think we could definitely make something work. At the moment I am a little swamped, but let me ponder it for a few days. When would you need this by?
I need to get a violin piece to play for YW in Excellence, and I can get my mom to play the piano, but choral is out of the question, is there any way to get this sort of arrangement for just violin and piano?
Thanks, Erin. Coming soon…
I was also on a hunt for an arrangement for our primary program, and found you. I am excited to see what you come up with.
Thanks,
Erin
Hi Sharon,
I’ve had a couple of other requests for a “Come, Follow Me” arrangement for primary. I plan to create something for piano, violin solo and children’s chorus. I hope to have it up by within the next couple of weeks. Thanks!
was searching tonight for something interesting on come follow me for our primary program and found you. i to would be interested in anything you may have. would gladly pay for also thanks so much, sharon jensen
Thanks for the request, Susan! I will do my best to have this completed by the end of the month for you both (keep your fingers crossed!).
I’m also looking for an arrangement with a piano/violin that we can use as part as our primary program. I’d love to see what you come up with.
Hi Monica,
I certainly could help with that. Let me think about it for a bit and see if I can come up with something that will work. Thanks for the suggestion!
The primary children are learning this song for the program this fall. We always try to find a more interesting accompaniment than just playing the hymn – any chance of making an arrangement they can sing the first couple verses to and then add an organ to the piano accompaniment for the final verse for the congregation and primary to sing together(we will only be singing 3 verses)?
Just a thought…would love to have something different
Sorry, Susan! We recently moved to a new home (in March) and I have been overwhelmed with the experience! I checked the file and it seems to download correctly. I will try sending the file to you via email (though it may be well past time for you to use it). Best of luck with your choir!
I could not download the violin pdf. It says the file is damaged. Can you forward that to me? Thank you very much.
